EMBRAPII will expand its network of research centers in IOT Manufacturing 4.0

The organization will select up to four new research centers to integrate the EMBRAPII Units network

EMBRAPII (Brazilian Company for Research and Industrial Innovation) launched a public call to select up to four new research centers to integrate the network of EMBRAPII Units.

Each group selected by the entity will receive a contribution of R$ 5 million to develop projects in partnership with the industry, in the area of IoT/Manufacturing 4.0. The announcement was made by the Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Astronaut Marcos Pontes, this last Monday (3).

Through this co-financing model proposed by EMBRAPII, the selection is expected to generate around R$ 60 million in innovation projects. Although the organization generally finances 1/3 of the value of the projects with non-reimbursable resources, a financial contribution from the private sector and contributions from the research institutions involved in the projects is required.

Those interested in participating in the selection must be accredited by the Information Technology Area Committee of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (CATI/MCTI), present an Action Plan for three years of operation and prove that they have already obtained at least R$ 5 million in resources from industrial companies in the development of RD&I projects, in the period between 2017 and 2020.

The forecast is for the new units to start operating in the 2nd semester.

The selected candidates will work under the Priority Program (PPI) in IoT/Manufacturing 4.0 from EMBRAPII, an MCTI instrument to support strategic projects in the ICT area.

The IoT and Manufacturing 4.0 areas are extremely important for the strengthening of RD&I activities. Industry 4.0 has provided more agility, flexibility and efficiency every day, allowing, therefore, the constant evolution of companies in search of technological solutions in the Brazilian industrial sector.
