Brazil is the leader in the IT market – software, services, hardware and export – in Latin America, with 44% of participation in the region and investments of R$ 220 billion in 2020. The growing digital transformation in the last two decades was totally accelerated due to the pandemic , and businesses, from micro to multinationals, needed to adapt, to a greater or lesser extent, to online relationships.

The information and communication technology (ICT) sector is expected to inject R$ 845 billion in capital into the economy by 2024, according to data from the Brazilian Association of Companies in the ICT sector – Brasscom. To give an example, the growth in the use of digital services in the Brazilian banking sector motivated the use of R$ 25.7 billion in IT in 2020 alone.

The software, public cloud (cloud computing), artificial intelligence and information security markets – this one, driven by the LGDP (General Data Protection Law), has been expanding rapidly, and IT is the cradle of the most successful applications of innovation in the world. Just look at the ranking of the most innovative global brands, where Google, Facebook, Apple and Samsung, whose operations are based on ICT, are among the main models of world innovation.

Research shows some emerging technologies that will attract investments in the near future. 5G, the fifth generation of mobile networks, will enable the creation of new businesses involving other technologies such as artificial intelligence, augmented and virtual reality, big data and analytics, internet of things and robotics.
